WARNING! About cold air intakes
I have been informed at school this past week that they are now restricting trucks for having cold air intakes or even drop in filters. As well as other mods. So if you guys are bringing these trucks into dealerships make sure the aftermarket stuff is removed or hidden. "The man" is crackin down real hard on this stuff.
Nope! No if ands or buts about it. Any tampering what so ever will restrict your engine warranty period. And the problem is the dealers will have no choice but to enforce this becuase they will be held responsible for the cost of the repairs and that aint gonna happen. I cant even overlook it anymore cause if im asked about tampering and i say no then the rep comes out and sees im lieing i will prolly lose my job as well. I used to over look alot of things unless the trucks were really abused.
Dodge...There warranty is not worth the paper it is typed on...Detroit use to make trucks, now all they make is excuses..It's a crying shame to give 45K-50K for a truck that you can not depend on..
That is why I have come to the conclusion of the who cares. They can keep there warranty. I will fix it myself. Tired of all this worry. Excusses about this and that instead of getting to the real cause of the problem. Like the open vents on the fuel tanks, crappy injector leaking issues, A/C that is a pain in the butt, etc........ I personally am sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a good quote. Honestly, I agree with the crackdown, as if you have a warranty, it keeps you honest. Mine's been out of warranty a long time, but I still cannot afford to modify it, as it will typically cost you more in terms of repair and maintance down the road.

Well, when it comes to their piece of junk cold air intake I have a few things that would be very good 'legal proof' that my aftermarket cold air intake actually performs FAR BETTER. I have done an oil sample EVERY oil change from day one. With their stock box and garbage filter I kept having silicone levels that were marginally acceptable. When I removed their piece of junk and put a better intake and quality filter on, my silicone levels dropped to almost 0. If they think for one minute I will sit and let their junk be the CAUSE of a decrease in lifespan of my property and investment when something better is available, well let me just say that my attorney will see that they are put in their place. As for some failure engine wise, due to their engineering and design, lack of quality control, again, they had better stand behind their warranty or once again my attorney will be right in there taking care of me. I refuse to be dictated to by a company that seems to constantly use some excuse to get out of standing behind their warranty. None of this warranty stuff comes out of Cummins on other vehicle manufacturers that use their engines. Cummins will be getting a real bad PR over what Dodge is doing to the Cummins loyal owners.
The time will come when someone like me is in their garage with a legitimate warranty issue, something that an aftermarket air intake did not or would not have been even associated with, like injectors, dropped valve seats, etc, you know those all to common issues of standard failures that everyone is experienceing due to their design issues - and will have to sue to get their proper warranty restitution, believe me when I say that I will sue both Dodge and Cummins together, an there will be NO settlement out of court with some stupid clause that prohibits me from discussing things just to get my problems remedied and have my truck back on the road. I will get it fixed and then go after them for restitution if they deny me a legitimate warranty claim.
It is time for everyone to realize that the internal practice of warranty denials will only continue if no one take appropriate actions. NOWHERE did I sign anything that gave away my rights to choose aftermarket products when I bought my truck. NOWHERE in all the documents does it say they can deny me my warranty repairs on legitimate issues. The Moss-Magnuson Act comes into play regarding these things for a worth reason, to control the dictators and to stop them from monopolizing and controlling your choices. If they actually had a bumper to bumper warranty that they would stand behind, built a truck with quality, then the aftermarket would not exist.

My local dodge dealer sells and installs the AFE cold air intakes. at a hefty price I might add. they better not be giving people grief if they sell them themselves....
d/c has been issueing these memos for years. i remember being shown one right after i bought my 2nd gen, and was warned by a service writer not to use anything but a mopar replacement filter for $35 a pop. in the end, they never hassled me about my cai, or the one on my '05. the new service mgr. at my dealership told me that sometimes they do deny warranty repairs on items like turbos, if they believe an aftermarket filter had something to do with the problem.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. It is federal law that the dealer may revoke warranty only IF they can prove that the mod contributed to the damage they are repairing. Just like was stated above, they can't blame your air intake for a failed lift pump, or your Optima batteries for a burnt relay. They have to prove it.

This has been hashed over so many times. Unless you ARE a lawyer, it's going to be very costly for you and probably not worth it.
96 12V, How do you like your Michelin LT X's.? I had some on a 97 1/2 ton before this 07 I have and never really got to see how they run in the snow and wet stuff. I would like to put some on this truck after these OEM tires wear out some.
I would like to add on the 97 truck 5.9L (gas) I used to own and I kept the truck stock and never had a problem with it for 10 years.
Do not these truck have enough power already?
I drive a Ottawa trailer mover at work and it has a I6L cummins with only 200 HP, 520 torque this can drag a semi trailer (not fully loaded) with the brakes locked up on dry pavement
