TURBO WENT BYE BYE ON THE PSD

Well it finnally went on the Excursion. Sunday coming home from the ranch on I-10 crusing about 72mph about 10psi 600*F constant. Going down hill and heard the turbo making a flutter noise looked over to the boost gauge and it drop from 10psi to 0psi in about 2 seconds. So had to drive the rest of the way home ( about 1hour) with no boost just DI. Yesterday took the chip out and took it down to the dealership and hope they dont scan the computer. My dad and I have taken the truck in about 3 times to our friend that owns a ford dealership and everytime they say theres nothing wrong. Took it to another one they said nothing is wrong. But maybe when they replace this one my dad and I will take this one off and put either a H2E or a GTP38R. What would yall recommend? Were not gonna be puttin anything else on it just turbo. Thanks for the input yall.

The BullyDog turbo was pretty stout and handled some stacked aftermarket mods on my buddies 02 PSD (290 RWHP). Good drop in EGT and no flutter. The Big Whoof seemed to do everything it was supposed to. There was another turbo he tried twice and blew them both in under 600 miles. The Whoofer hung in there, and still is as far as I know.

I agree with Lil Dog, the Bullydog turbo is a good choice as well as the H2E. The H2E has been proven in many highly moded PSD and takes a good beating. The GTP38R is still in the testing phase IMO, and has not yet gained the proven reliability by many of the PSD creative engineers out there yet. All will provide a nice spool up at lower RPM's and provide more boots latter in the band than the stock, of course. When I change my turbo out on my PSD I will go with the H2E hands down. I do suggest running a good chip like a DI-4 though, with an aftermarket exhaust to get anything out of any of them.

Well right now I have 4" exhaust 130hp/300tq chip and TC. But when I get the new turbo put on I will custom program the chip. ;D

Do you have sinter metal connecting rods or forged?

If your Excursion is a 2k model it should have forged connecting rods. If later be careful. The sinter metal connecting rods can't take high hp applications.
