trading my 2001 Dodge for a 2008 GMC

I just wanted to run my deal past you and see what you think about the trade. I have a 2001 Dodge 24 valve, SLT Laramie, auto, 4x4, 110k, that is loaded and has extras such as spray in liner, bug shield, vinyl bed cover. The tires are Cooper Discover ATR 285/75/16 on factory wheels with 7,000 miles on them, 2" level kit. Replaced the batteries and just did the rear brakes. I guess I'm trying to say the truck has been kept up !

The new truck is a GMC 4x4, duramax, auto, SLT extended cab with all the options minus roof and nav. I'm down to our truck and $21,500 with all discounts and rebates - the GMC sticker was $49k and some change. We are scheduled to pick up the truck on Jan 1.

How did I do?

At least you went with the GMC and not the hideous boxy look of the new Chevy. I was always a GM guy until 03. I cant stand the look of any Chevy truck after 02.

I wanted the new body style and didn't care for the plastic parts on the hood and the front end of the Chevy. I've owned all three and they all look the same on the back of a tow truck.

KBB value on your truck is about $10K. That means you're paying about $32K for the new GMC. If it was a quad cab/ 4 door, I'd say that was about right. But for an extended cab, that's a little high in my area. Not by much, but a little. Get them down to $20K even.

x2. I would say it was a good deal as well if it were a quad cab. I agree, I think you should get it down more to the 20k. Merry Christmas!

Not trying to be a jerk, but I would never buy a truck with all the emissions crap on it. I would try to get an earlier D-Max without the emissions equipment, but thats just me. I do think you got a pretty good deal though, if you're not afraid of emissions.

I had another dealer pull the invoice on the GMC and he said the ACV on my truck is $9,000. So it sounds like if we want a new truck it's a decent deal.

If I was shopping for a new truck, it would probably be a duramax. Congratulations on the purchase. No worries on the emissions stuff, If it gives you problems, there are ways around

I never thought Id say it, as I HATE anything GM, but those new GMCs are nice. Drove a yellow crew cab. If I had the money, and it didnt cost $69k, I mighta bought it. Ill never give up on my Dodges, but I wouldnt mind having a new GMC Dmax either...

I've got an 08 Duramax for a work truck. I really like the power it's got, not too happy with the quality of the interior or the Allison transmission though.

You don't like the Allison? Any reason why? I always heard they were a wonderful transmission.

Haha, yea it was in Rock Springs, twelve miles away. Thats where I work. It was an 08 GMC, special ordered by dealer in yellow, with the HD4 package, lifted with some nasty looking (not a good nasty) wheels w/ skinny BFGs...

Nice truck, but nowhere NEAR worth $69k. They had a black one and tu-tone silver one at the time also. I think they were asking that cause its an oilfield town in the middle of a boom, and theres guys that make some coin. Sure enough, someone bought it. Problem was the bumpstops were sitting on the control arms; roughest riding SOB Ive driven in a long time.
