Tires and Rim Width

I've been searching around and I can't find anything that says what width rim I need for different width tires.

I have some 265/75 r15's that I want to put on my Rally van (w/6.2). I have the stock 15" rims which measure 7.5" outside width.

Is that OK?

Thanks,
JP.

This is some dry reading if you really want: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...#rimwidthrange

Most tire manufactures specifications will list min-max wheel width size for each tire. You did not specify the tire manufacturer so can't look it up. Most have online specs that will show wheel width sizes.

In general what I have seen specs on 265/75R/15 will have 7"-9" wheel size specs. The exact type of tire could change that some, but not much. I think it would work fine.

That works, look up the manufacturer.

Thanks,
JP.
