Tired of the money pit
The downside to being happy with my truck is that it's going to be tougher to justify getting rid of it when diesel hits $4/gal and higher.
Not so much that fuel is getting more expensive, as that our dollars are getting worth less and less.
Darn Monetarism!

year or so ago i did a major bunch of work on my brothers 97 one ton dually four by four most was bad maintence and him driving it. 6k later it steers and drives great still having front brake issues because of no trailer brakes on his two goosenecks . just drives me crazy.
I go thru this every couple months with some buddys of mine. They all get new trucks every 2-3 years. They take a 15k hit on depreciation alone even though the diesel brings more at trade in. Figure about $0.50 per mile alone not counting any owner parts or repairs. They pay a bunch more insurance than I do besides. Their reasoning is that they don't want ot deal with repairs and maintenance. Just take it to the dealer. It seems that every time they get a $100-200 repair bill for non covered items even though it is warantee work.
I'm my own warantee dept so I keep pretty close watch on the truck and fix what needs fixing right away. My total cost per mile for everything is well under what they pay just for depreciation. Pluss no monthly payment. I wish I had $600+ /mo to just toss out the window.
