Thank you DTR and members

Hereby I would like to thank DTR and its members for al the incredible info on the Cummins diesel engine, dodge trucks and other subjects I came across on this site.
I have been al over this site (and others) for the last view weeks in surge of an ultimate combination diesel engine, Transmission and Truck itself.
I have a lot of questions and opinions about various possibilities, options and availabilities concerning diesel trucks and really hope to get some advice and open minded opinions.

As being from Europe (moved from the Netherlands to US in 2000) please excuse my grammar and spelling, I look forward to receive an enlightening view of the diesel drivers and experts on this site.

BTW, My wife nixed my idea to buy a new f150 4X2 6cil. std cab air ps spctr stick. $15060 out the door, that was a good deal.
She says that every man, one time in his live has to get the truck of his dreams…..

well,.. Just a first question, I would love a 5.9L 2500 But how about a 3.9L 1500? future??

Please advice.

Edited to correct site name

Welcome to the USA

Welcome to DTR

I won't pick on your grammer & spelling, if you don't pick on my Dutch.

About the truck..... never argue with your wife when she says buy a truck of your dreams. I think it's a rule in the Netherlands.

Welcome to the forum!

If you are going to pull or haul anything heavy get the 2500 5.9L. 2002 is my favorite because of 4 wheel disk brakes. I don't know anything about a 3.9L 1500? Is that the diesel they're putting in Libertys? It's not a Cummins is it?

Anyway, the 5.9 is monster ready to be unleashed. A good chip, intake, exhaust, clutch or transmission, bigger turbo or twins, injectors, better fuel delivery and a little head work is all it takes

3.9 is a dodge gasser engine, basically a 318/5.2l with 2 cylinders lopped off.

by the way, welcome to dtr, technocrsr!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the 3.9L also the 4 cylinder Cummins that is basically a 5.9L with only 4 cylinders.

By the wayWELCOME to the DTR

Thanks for the welcome everyone I really appreciate it.

I owned a view diesel cars and drove semi for a view years so I’m familiar with diesels.
and just love the tremble, consisted heartbeat and the hidden power karma it has.

However the 5.9 Cummins may be a overkill for what I need, and it is pretty much intimidating if you see it and hear it run.
I do pull some heavier trailers 3-6k and pull Logs out of the woods and plow snow. etc, but that much power,….. I dunno. (But still love it)

My F150 can handle it but I’m not sure for how long.

There is a 3.9m Cummins diesel engine out there that I’m wondering about that can be used to be put in a 1500 or Dakota that can fit the bill.

There are a lot of rumors about smaller diesels in Chev, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, etc.

Just wondering what the real deal will be.

BTW I just had I tooth pulled would that make me fit in?

Thanks, you’ all are great…..

You can never have to much power. There are many guys that have one of these trucks and don't tow at all. So it's just your preference. As far as the tooth pulling goes I still have all of my teeth.

The reason I bought my first CTD, is due to the amount of miles I drive. Typicly, I put 50k-65k a year on my trucks. Thats not a lot for some, but when your driving a new gasser thats a lot. I found myself trading my truck in every year.( usually when I got to about 60k, reason being I didnt want to loose my butt on the thing) This is my second CTD, I bought it used, its about to hit 100k, and i cant wait. I got the camera in the truck. Ive never been so excited to put that many miles on a truck before. Other than the LP, my truck has never let me down. I can honestly say, I plan on owning a CTD till the day I go. By far, the cummins is the best truck Ive ever had. Oh and Yea the power and the numerous different bombs available, yea thats addicting Oh well.
