tell me its NOT so! or is it?
please...please....please... tell me Ford does NOT own Cummins!! I dont see how any company with any "smarts" wouldnt use a cummins if they owned the company them self?
i have argued this with others and they say Ford owns it and blah blah blah
but what the heck would a company like Ford motors own Cummins and not use them, it seems to me (if they owned them) it would be cheaper and MUCH better to use the Cummins in there trucks instead of the international and CAT engines when Cummins makes engines big enough for ALL thier trucks
if Ford does own them please try to let me down EZ here..... ok?

Why is it that most all Ford owners talk this crap. Their truck is junk and we know it so they have to say "Ford owns Cummins", what a crock. I was at the feed store last week, the guy had a Ford. I had to cut him off quick before the truck war started. I just want to tell them all, GETA REAL TRUCK and GET RID OF THAT TONKA TOY. I always ask them where do they have the hole in their floor boards. They just look at me, and I say,"So you can do the Fred Flinstone and peddle that thing to the junk yard". What a POS!!!!!
Geez, all but a couple of the ford owners I know think this. My buddy asked me this the other day, he said "well, it must be true, my girlfriends dad told me so, he works at the ford plant." I reassured him its not. Then he has the nerve to call me the other day, asking me about it again, saying he talked to one of the management at the ford plant in Norfolk, and he said ford owns cummins. I had to get online and read it out to him that they do not, they only had 10% of the SHARES a few years ago, and cummins bought them back in 97.

yah i didnt believe it thats why I asked but what i should have done first was email Cummins first not you guys. here is what the Cummins INC sent back to my question:
"Thanks for your Email message.
Ford does NOT own any portion of Cummins. In 1994, Ford purchased 10% share of Cummins stock. However, as of January 1, 1997, Cummins purchased back all of the original shares from Ford, therefore Ford no longer has any direct financial connections with Cummins.
Ford currently uses Cummins engines in their F-series trucks, larger than 1 ton. Ford uses the Navistar Power Stroke engine in their pickups, that are 1 ton or under."
