I had an 01 Excurion 7.3, the only reason I got rid of it was because we traded the tow behind for a 5th wheel. I loved that truck.

I had both, and the Excursion with the 7.3 is awesome. It was smooth and a ton of room and it would tow circles around the Suburban. If I didn't need a truck I would still have the X. I wish they still made them.

My budie just picked up a 00 Excursion limited with the 7.3 for $6400. He is a Ferd guy and has always wanted a Power Stroke Excursion and finaly found one he could aford. He got it off a auction in Minniapolis. It was a drug confiscation vehicle. They normaly go for a lot more than that but they had to push it threw the auction because it was gelled up and wouldent start. People wont bid much for vehicles that are pushed threw. He took a chance on it and it turned out good. After towing it home we figured out it had a Vegie oil conversion and had straight vegie oil in it and was gelled good and propper. After a little tinkering we got it started and got some diesel in it and it runs great. The thing is a tank. He bought it for his wife for a daily driver. Personaly if it where me I would go for a gas suburban if you dont need to tow with it. If you do tow heavy with it then the Excursion may be a better choise. I dont like Fords but the 7.3 wasent a bad engine and the Excursion is definatly a bigger tow rig. He said they are efectivly a 1 ton truck. The Fords use a diferent axle in the 1 tons and that is what the Excursions have. I dont know if the springs are tecnicaly the same as a 1 ton truck but it sure rides like it.
