got one on my boat.

toggle switch turns the system on and a push button to fire the starter.

not hard to do, just add a power wire and tap into the start wire from the switch.

It would probably be safer to have a diesel shop do it for you then.

if someone wants to steal your truck, they will. BUT, that would be a deturent... if they had the key they would get in it and turn the key, and no go.

The wire will be visible if you take the steering column apart.

I have driven many trucks, and other equipment, with the push-button.

The only danger in these is when some embicile pushes the button with the engine already running.

It could, and probably will, damage the ring-gear and starter bendix.

If my key switch quit working, I would not hesitate to ditch it, in favor of the push-button.

The Dodge SRT-10 trucks have a factory "Start" button installed.

They are only worth about $40 from the dealer. Unfortunately, there is no wiring harness available, your on your own for that. It shouldn't be a big deal to follow the factory SRT wiring and build your own.

Those trucks have an override on the button, once the truck is started, it doesn't do anything if you push it again.

It would be a cool addition to anyone with a 3rd Gen truck.

easily solved with an extra relay. wire the relay coil to the altanator wiht the start button wired to the normally closed contact. when the altanator is putting out a voltage, the relay will be open and opening the start switch.

Heck with button, install a pedal on the floor like the old rigs had that powered up the starter and mechanically engaged the Bendix.
No pesky starter solenoid to go bad.
