Have them show you the law that says that you can't have stacks.

There's a phone number here:
http://www.wvstatepolice.com/traffic/mvi.htm

Give them a call.
It might just be an overzealous/misinformed inspector.
Virginia has a few also.....right DieselDude4X4?

I've never heard of this either....but in Ky or at least in Cynthiana if you have a truck that blows black smoke they'll give you a ticket in a heart beat....

I can get almost Free stacks to add to my 91.5 CTD from a friend, I just need to secure the chrome stacks. I plan to call my "friend" and see if it is legal in WV (he will pass me anyway) to have stacks here. I will find out the actual "laws" in a few days, so I will keep ya'll posted when I do. I got all the stuff to do 'em, but I want to keep this beast street legal so I can cover the town with smoke when I want toooooo.
I'LL post as soon as I find out!!

The law on the books in Virginia is very specific. It states that no exhaust will be altered from the factory installation and the exhaust system shall not be any louder than a factory system. That is what the judge quoted me when I went to court and I already had the same thing anyway. He just told me I was going to get stopped again and I did.
