A Splode? Your head a splode?

Man, I don't think you can trace that back any farther than Strong Bad...

And, um, silencer rings aren't cool... Largely because trucks that have them aren't cool...

Stock. . .yes, but they shouldn't do a search on removing it. Will take longer to type it out than to actually remove it.

Unless the space in the ring is in a bad spot.

I hate it when things Asplode
I hear ya. Asploding parts usually result in the whole truck being bronked.

O.K. I did it, I took the ring out, and the best tool by far is the 90 degree pick. Took cummins out for a little jaunt and didn't notice any differance, infact I think it was quieter.
Now what I mean by quieter might be different than some peoples opinion. I could definetly hear more of a whoosh sound, but some of my sing was gone. I know these not technical terms, but it's the best way to describe the difference in the turbo noise with and without the ring in. I came back home and put the ring back in. Now the most important thing I will post on this thread is about to come. But I'm not done yet so you'll all have to wait
My dad has an 03 2500 ctd so when I bought my 07 of course I had to take him for a ride in my new pickup. Straight from the dealership and over to dad's I go. The first thing he said as we went around the block, "is that your turbo" and I replied "yes, there's alot more whistle there than your's isn't there." Now I have drove dad's truck quite abit and there is a definite ssssssssssiiiing difference between the trucks, that is why I opted to put my silencer ring back in, I hear more whistle when it's in. Maybe my truck is a freak.

Back to this important issue I had discovered when taking the ring out. From the factory they have marked the silencer ring in coordinats with the snap ring with a simple strike of a green marker. So boys and girls when and if you put your ring back in make sure they are lined up for warranty issues. Infact I'm guessing that's exactly why they did this. Has anyone else noticed this jiffie marker mark???
Thanks to all of you who have voted on this thread, I hope my discoveries have helped some of you.

Took mine out when I had the BHAF. Ran it for about 2 days after I installed the Scotty II then put it back in. With the SAII, its plenty loud with it in.

It took me more time to fish out the pliers that in that little "pocket" that is formed by the underside of the bumper and the radiator... that wasn't fun .

Pulled my silencer ring last week, liked the sound but you know how it goes - "Needs more cowbell..." Today I swapped out the stock 90* boots and that plastic air guide thing and replaced it with two 4" elbows and a 7" long 4" dia piece of aluminum tubing. It's definately twice as loud now hehe. Next project is some kind of ram air setup through the front bumper into the bottom of the stock air box.

I pulled the ring, but didn't notice to much whistle, i'm gonna put a BHAF on pretty soon, so that combo should wake the sound up.
