Should I trade...Need your advice
Here's the details:
My truck in sig, has 28K currently for a 99 2500 24v 5spd, Sonic blue ,sport, QC Short bed 150K, 4x4.
Overall, the truck is decent, it has some dings and scratches, nothing that bothers me though, interior is in OK shape, tear in the leather on drivers seat...
Engine sounds good, starts up in a half a second, cluctch is pretty well wore, id be lucky to get another 30K out of it just normal driving, there is an exhaust leak right off the turbo and the A/C doesnt blow cold and the steering seems to wander around a little. All in all, I would rate the truck as fair condition. He said at 3 years my payment could be $465, that is with my truck and a $1000.
What do you all think?

That sounds like a bad deal to me.
1. Sell your truck private party.
2. Pay off remainder of loan if any with cash. That's a tough thing to do, but you'll be better off in the long run as any owed money will be built into a new loan with higher interest.
3. Get pre-approved for a truck loan based on your budget
4. Go truck shopping.

who did you finance the truck through, bank, credit union, dealer??? if for instance the credit union gave you the loan then you would take the money from the buy and pay the loan off, IF you get enough for the truck to pay it off. then the credit union will give you the title and you can transfer it.
if you dont get enough to pay the loan off from the buyer then you will probably need some cash to close out the loan and get the title from them. at least that is the way i have seen it work for a few friends dealing with credit unions. may be different elsewhere!

If there is any way possible, i'd just try my best to keep your current one. You are going to take a beating on it financially if you sell or trade it.
If you go and buy the 99 model, you might have to fork over $1600-2000 for a VP44 pump in the near future because there won't be any warranty on it. Plus if you sell yours, you may have to come up with a LOT of cash to pay off that note. You are probably UPSIDE DOWN on the truck at the moment and owe more than it's worth.
I know the payments may be a little tough right now....but I feel it will still COST you more in the long run (and short run) to switch.
Can you find a way to make a little extra money on the side to help with your payments on the 06??
If you just HAVE to sell it..........no other option.......then do what Mike D said.

Yeha, ive been thinking hard about it and I dont want to lose my a$$ on it, its just not worth it to me to save what, 200 bucks a month? I was using the truck to do hauling jobs on the side and that was helping to cover the cost but I havent had one for a while now and its been tough...
You would be crazy to make a deal like that. Sell your truck even if you don't get the payoff make it up somehow. A 99 with 150k with the problems you discribed shouldn't go for more than 8 to maybe 10k of course I only shop at whole salers so good luck at a regular dealer. By the time you rebuild the front end and replace the pump your out almost 4k. Truck won't be worth 12 or 14k after you do all that.
Oh and you might want to let the bank know what you are doing.
