Why would Freightliner want to sell a competitors engine if they could sell one of there own lineups (MB and Detroit)?

It's not that hard to figure out. Why sell a competitors engine when you're owned by MB? I'm not a fan of MB engines. I've had a couple and they're tough to work on and damned expensive too. When parts cost x for Cummins or DD, figure on 4x for an MB. Eventually I can see Ram not having a Cummins engine but an MB and that's unfortunate. A cousin of mine has a Sprinter and it doesn't live up to its name. But, most of the problems are with the tranny and not the engine. I haven't heard what FedEx and UPS are experiencing with their fleets.

The FedEx and UPS units around my part seem to be doing okay with the Sprinter. No major problems to account for really. The one problem that sticks out like a sore thumb is the EGR valve problem. The valve itself is not self cleaning so idling for long periods of time will cause it to stick. Some trans. problems we have seen are mostly with the trans module and flexplate.
