Sorry, my work truck has a Davco and it's different than the Racor. You might want to ask a moderator to move this to general diesel where more of the guys with big-truck knowledge will see it.

Racor

Fishin' fever : my Racor 225R has a valve at the bottom of the bowl. Has yours been plugged or is there nothing there period.? I've always had a gallon can with fresh diesel in it when I change mine. Just drop the bowl, clean it out. Replace filter (?) then before screwing bowl back on fill it a bit with diesel and install. The hand pump tops it off. You can start it actually without hand pumping it but it'll blubber for awhile until the filter gets pressurized.

Hey Jive 55 thanks for reply but no valve on bottom [just drain and water sensor lead]... from the racor website I'm almost posstive its a 400 series they have the pump on top and best quess from the 3 choices is the 490 info says self draining on the web but as stated on post conflicts with the head instuctions which conflict with the filter instructions so i'm confused Have requested tread be moved to general site but .......no go

On the 445/460/490 models (Raycor) with the priming pump, the bleed valve is on the right output port. Just loosen the bolt and push the primer until fuel begins to exit the port then close the port. The filter is now primed.
