Reg Cab Roll Call (or, "why are reg cabs so hard to find?")

I've been looking for a cheap used 2wd reg cab, be it 12v, 24v, or hpcr.

Ideally, I'd like a '97 12V auto reg cab.

The problem is that it seems the regular cab is almost a dead animal?

Where are they all??

Justin

I think the reason they are harder to find now is for a couple resons, first I think its due to the price of pickups and if there spending that much money allready they might as well get the back seat (or atleast thats why I bought a quad cab) and I think the other big reason is now more and more people are buying trucks to use for there daily driver, family vehicle/grocery getter. To me it seems the like with the first gens more people were buying them to use as a work truck more then anything else. Ive had a couple regular cab first gen gassers before that I used for work to haul tools and lumber and such. I like regular cabs for work but I wanted something a bit newer and for the price difference I wanted the back seat (which I use more to store tools then haul people but its nice to have) Thats just my opinion though.

I have a regular cab 2nd gen and I love it. This my second dodge truck now and both so far have been regular cabs. Now the only thing I would trade this truck for is a 96 or 97 12v 2500 regular cab in the same shape my truck is in. ALot of my friends have ext cab trucks or 4 door trucks, so it's kinda nice to have something different. They all call it "The day cab".

I love my single cab truck. I don't see the need for anything bigger for my needs unless i had kids. But that's not a issue right now.

Wait there is a truck in that picture?

Haha, with a wife/girlfriend looking like that I don't see why you would want kids!

I have a reg cab, its alright. being single it works out well for me. However, given the chance I wouldnt mind trading for a quad cab.

I just bought a 98.5 reg cab 2wd 5spd from a local used car lot... he was gonna put a flatbed on it and make it a route truck... happen to see it there one day and thought it would make a good shortbed... so i bought it ... i've had it 3 weeks now and have got the shortbed conversion done.. 5" , Bhaf, Tint lowered 3/4, etc... i'm lovin it.. the 2wd gets WAY better mileage than my 99 3500 4x4 lifted lol good luck

Personally, I don't think a trucks proportions are correct on ext and club cabs, but the world wants a truck they can take the family in. For me, that's why the wife has a CAR. Not many 2wd anything trucks near me- resale value in the northeast is zero in a 2wd truck.

I have a Reg Cab now.. but hope to soon have a 4 door..

The reg cab was perfect for me when it was just the wife and myself. but with a 3 month old boy it does not work to well.. especially since we use my truck for road trips..

plus we also have 2 dogs.. so I need to upgrade to a 4 door.
