Quad cab vs. crew cab

How much bigger is a crew cab on say a Chevy or Ford vs. a 3rd gen quad cab? I need the room for my three boys, but I also like an 8' bed. Mega cab is an option, but the bed might get too small.

I don't know how much leg room there is in the back of a quad cab. The Ford crew cab has more leg room in the back than the front. And you can get a 8' bed. Like you I was looking for a truck that would be comfortable for people riding in the backseat. If I could have gotten a Dodge with the leg room and the 8' bed of the Ford I would be driving the Dodge. Keith

I hear ya on having both. I have three kids (ages 6, 3, 1) that are going to be in the back seat, and the Megacab ultimately fits the bill for interior space, but I also utilized an 8' bed quite often (when i had my trucks) I could get by on the shortbed, I jsut don't want to regret it later on. I figure on having the truck for at least 10yrs, so I am anticipating their growth. I'm thinking I might have to deal with the shorter bed. I looked at Duramaxes as well, but I REALLY like the Cummins and after working on Dodges for the last 4yrs, it makes sense to stay with something that you know.

There is a company that will extend the frame of a Megacab so a 8' bed will fit. Keith
