Mr's Marty and Sunday, your jealousy is completely transparent, yea that mega cab sure is ugly!!

Jealous of what?

The MC is a big, ugly, akward looking truck.

I paid cash for my QC,you think the few extra grand for a MC kept me from buying one?

If I'd have wanted a MC,I'd have paid cash for it to.

My son is 10 months also I have a Megacab and love it plenty of room. I went from an extended cab to the mega and would never go back.

As far as room in the QC goes,I'm 6' tall and can ride back there pretty comfortably. I wouldn't want to ride cross country back there, but overall it fine.

Even with my brother (6'5") in front of me,he can slide the seat up far enough to have room in front without my knees touching the seatback.

The only thing about the back seats that bother is that the seatbacks are almost straight up and down.

Something smaller than a MC and a bit bigger than a QC,would be perfect IMO.

had an 03 till my buddy showed up with a mega! one elk trip to idaho, and i was SOLD. i rode in the back the whole trip, acutally enjoyed it... feels like a jacked up bad@ss limo... back seats in the megas recline!! i have slept back there before on hunting trips... a full air bed blows up perfect! best truck out there!! period.

I may not be able to put a full air mattress in the back seat of my truck but I can put 8' planks in the bed of mine with the tailgate up!

Just put a couple of car seats in a quad cab with a couple of 3 or 4 year olds and see how long it takes you to be begging for a Mega. I'll never buy another quad cab.

Since the QC was too small and too awkward for my father inlaw to get in and out of and Dodge could not build a true crew, I bought a Mega and it has an 8ft bed for my 8ft planks. I have what I want/need. Why Dodge elected to skip the correct cab size with the jump to the mega is beyond me but what I have works great. Its a truck with more capabilities then I expected.
I think the QC is an over rated excuse for an extended cab.
Little wee rear doors, next to no leg room, ugly little windows, As for parking...I have no door dings because I have to park in the vacant lot...far away from the folks in the quad cabs all bunched up together near the door to the store.
them QC owners are strange. J/K

My wife sat in the Megacab and told me to get it. I saw a tow rig I can sleep in, she saw a baby hauler. Either way we manage to use all the space on trips.

I can see that. While mine is only a month from turning 1 .year old his carseat is massive in the back of my quad cab. It's also a real pain to get him in and out and I am really yearning for a Megacab if I can find one for a good price (which I have, but haven't sold my qc) or I might settle for a Ford crew cab which I've owned in the past and was very happy with.

Ya know I feel much the same. I think Dodge was downright stupid for not making a true crew cab especially since the trend was already towards large spacious cabs. Then they realize it and come out with the overdone megacab. Don't get me wrong, I love the megacab's space but not offering it with a longbed from the factory is another dumb move, regardless of size. You are one of many that proove there is a market for a mega/long. I would prefer they just do it right from the get go and do a true crew with options for short and long beds just like everyone else.

I think they had a hard time doing a real crew cab long bed because the straight 6 engine available (the mighty cummins ) is so long. Ford and chevy basically have more space to expand the cab up front.

If it makes you feel better...
Quad Cab > Ext Cab
Mega Cab> Crew Cab

I've personally never had a problem with my short bed. I prefer it since I'd rather just pull a trailer.....

quite honestly I don't think that the Cummins is so long that it should have an effect on overall truck length. When I've seen a Cummins in the engine bay of a Ford it does not look to have any less room than what is has in the bay of a Dodge.

Hmm, but how far forward do they have to push the engine's center of gravity?

For some odd reason I'm still willing to guess it has something to do with Dodge not being able to push the cab forward as possible because of engine configurations.

Maybe the guy that did the 5.9Excursion might see this. Maybe ford has more room behind the dash for the engine....

Bottom line, there's little excuse for them not make a real crew cab with a long bed. The Mega is great and all, but it's really a lot more than most owners might say they need. There will be some that say they do need it and probably do though. The quad cab/long bed that I Had was shorter than my buddy's dads cc/lb 06 F250....add another 6-8 inches onto a qc and you have matched Ford's length.

Well, I've heard, and even used, the "I can fit an 8' board in my LB" line a thousand times. I had a couple short beds before this one and did not like them. Personally, with this vehicle I was going for the SUV type vehicle and this was the closest thing Dodge made. I even almost bought an Excursion instead. Anyways, who cares if you can fit an 8' board in the bed with the gate closed? I just built a fence and carried lots of lumber in the back. Some of it fit with the gate up and some of it fit with the gate down. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to secure your load either way. Or maybe it does ...........
They do make bed extenders too .....

Good point DZ. Although I have to admit it's nice to be able to throw in something long and just drive off without worry of it falling out.....assuming it's no longer than 8 foot.
