Propane and Nitrous

Just a quick question - Can you run Nitrous and Propane together at the same time? I have read in a few places that you can't, or it's not a good idea.

I'd think you'd pop a head gasket. You'd definately need fire rings and head studs. Also, you wouldn't really need to unless your dumping a HUGE amount of fuel in. You only need enough nitrous to clear up the smoke. That way you know your getting an efficient burn.

Some guy said "you can get 900 horse out of a PSD with the right chip" and that it could be done with "propane, nitrous, and a MAYBE a few other things" I think he thinks everyone in the world but him is stupid.

Throw enough fuel and air into anything and you can get lots of power. How long it will last and how safe it is, is another story.

You can run both together, but like t-boe said, you need to at least get studs in.

It's a Powerstroke, is there even one that has passed 900 yet? I haven't seen one in any magazines and if there was one it'd be in one.

I doubt they'd publish a story about a Powerstroke that turned nuclear on the dyno. I don't think it's happened though.

I guarantee they would! 900 is a huge number number in the diesel world. Even if something that high doesn't make a magazine you'll hear about it in a forum, read about it online, or see a dyno video where they show the actual numbers turned. So far i've only heard of Cummins and Duramax turning 900+

Yeah, your right. I'd love to see that video though. "Hey, we just hit 900hp!" and motor blows injuring the owner and the dyno operator.

They dynoed it three times.
300 + 300 + 300 = 900.
Some just get their numbers a different way!!!!

I wouldn't put propane in any diesel I own ever. Manufacturers say they have safe systems but it is still risky. Injecting something highly flammable into the engine with the intake charge and all that residual heat? Sounds like a good recipe for detonation to me. I know they're supposed to have sensors and stuff to only inject at the right time but it still has to be injected with the intake so the risk is always there.

I thought propane would be a good idea at first...until I read a little more about it. If I need to start putting drugs into my truck it will probably be water/meth or nitrous. In small amounts.

Propane in moderation makes the diesel burn more completely.
