Powerstoke wont start
Powerstoke wont start
Well she won't start now. No haven't got around to the glow plugs or thermostat in it yet but i was wondering what a way to get her goin would be. I've heard of pouring water over the pump will that warm it up enough to start it?

are you SURE that your 1990 is not a 7.3 IDI? did you plant in the powerstroke? Simple analysis, if it dont have a turbo and has an aircleaner up top, one of those round ones, you are looking at a 7.3 idi.
If that is the case then proceed with looking at all of these ideas.. If it is a powerstroke for sure (which i doubt but can be wrong) then disregard the rest of this post
Check
Glow plugs
Glow Plug connectors
Glow plug relay been replaced? how old is it?
Fuel lines, check the little caps that go over the injectors and the rubber lines
Injector pump, how old is it? if its original and truck is over 150K chances are you need a new one.....
Lift pump, for 20 bucks and lesst han an hour of work, cant go wrong with replacing this one.
batteries, how good are they, do they hold a charge
alternator
starter..
Try checking all of those, if all is well, chances are your IP is going south..

You DO HAVE an IDI (indirect inject) pouring water over the pump is supposed to cool it off sufficiently to actually restart the truck, but if that isnot working, your IP needs to be replaced...
