It's the thieves in the state capitol and DC that are the bigger problem.

Let me get this straight,.........OPEC members are charging $60 a barrel for crude (and getting it from us & the rest of the world), and you think DC is the problem?

When is the last time any foreign oil producing country asked the US to set the price we'd like to pay for oil?

It costs money to transport the oil also. So when we're forced to buy oil from overseas part of the price is for transportation. The tree huggers in the government prevent us from using domestic oil reserves so we must make up the shortfall. I agree though that a big part of the problem is OPEC however how much of their protests that they're pumping as fast as they can is actually true is anyones guess.

Taxes and regulations have a HUGE effect on prices though. I'm sure the refinery explosion in TX isn't going to help the situation either.

We have a refinery right here in town and it's STILL cheaper to drive 30 miles to a station in OK because of taxes on the fuel. IN fact, OK has the cheapest fuel in the country because the taxes are the lowest. That's going to change soon though.

What did the people expect when they voted in a president and vice president who both make their millions off of oil?

Yeah but at least we don't need to worry about men marrying men and having queer babies.

But that explanation takes all the conspiracy theory element out of it.

The same folks that will pay $5.00 for a 20 oz. cup of coffee every day without batting an eyelash, and $1.50 for a 16 oz bottle of water, want to complain about $2.00 a gallon gasoline.
