Go to your favorite search engine, and type in these three words: dodge diesel forum

That should keep you busy for a while.

If you're daring, replace dodge with ford, or chevrolet, or ....

Those are all decent sites, but DTR is still FAR superior. The Ferd and Chebby sites can be fun, but be prepared to be shocked at some of the silly things these guys think about the mighty Cummins -Steve

We appreciate the compliments. The guys and gal work hard to make the site as pleasing as possible. Some of the important things for us:

1. Your children should be able to read the site

Case in point: There is a member here who uses this site regularly to teach his high-school kids on certain subject. It's been a good tool for him, and I think it's great! On top of this, I don't like going to sites that make me turn my head every 20 seconds wondering if my kids are watching. We try and let guys express their opinions, but we believe that you can do it in such a way that is professional and curteous. This goes back to, "Do you let your kids read this site?" The answer to that is, yes. TONS of our members have messaged me saying that it's one of the only places they can do this.

2. Technical content is key

Although we love to have fun on the site, and the "other" forum is very popular, I think you'll find that our technical forums are packed full of information about our vehicles. When I started this site two years ago, many people said that we couldn't keep it going, and that it'll never be as good as "other" sites. One of the big things that people said is that I wouldn't be able to keep it free without keeping out the rif-raf. We again proved them wrong. Our technical content is some of the best I've ever seen, and only getting better. You can look for improvements this year that will make our site rival ANY automotive site on the net. There is MUCH more information coming, and it's going to be searchable.

3. No flame wars allowed

One of the main problems with many sites on the net is flame wars. I've seen sites "go down in flames" because of this. Without control of this problem, this site wouldn't be what it is today. We've taken a stance that we will enforce the no flame wars rule with no exceptions, and I believe it's worked to help our site grow. Our site is the fastest growing Dodge Diesel site I know of. I've checked the numbers before and found that we're averaging more then 20 members per day, sometimes hitting 30-40 per day while others are growing at a slower pace. If it continues to move at this rate, we will take over the number one spot in terms of size in less then 2 years.

Here are some stats for last month so you know

New users for Dec, 2003: 611 (our first 8 months in operation, we only had 600)

New posts for Dec, 03: 15,014

Site hits for Dec. 03: 14,672,843

Unique users for Dec. 03 140,433

Average unique users per day: 4500

Hits per hour average: 19721 Max: 58164

Anyways, just thought I'd share with you guys. Again, we appreciate the support very much, and I think that with the things we've done, we're moving in the right direction, and I think that in time, we'll absolutely be the number one diesel site on the net. Of course, that's just thinking of pure size. In terms of content and quality, I think we ARE the best one.

Jack

If DTR is acknowledged as the best Dodge Diesel forum with the most knowledgeable folks, why would anybody want to visit the other inferior sites? Where ese can you get your technical questions answered so quickly - and with more accuracy than the dealer? Where else can you go to get more fun poked at you? Where else can you go to feel more welcome? Etc. This is a site!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all who manage this site and the great folks who contribute.

Unhappy Jack says...3. No flame wars allowed

Its all starting to make sense to me...sort of.
No wonder theres no George Foreman Grill area.

However, Jack, I have never had any flames or fires on a George Foreman Grill.

Now if you ask me about that Hamilton thing...seen many of them go up in a ball of fire from too much heat.

This can be said for most things in life, but one can never truely appriciate what he has until he sees what his other options are.
Thanks for creating a small "oasis" on the internet. If only more sites held the same values.

edited to add: that class that gets taught wouldn't happen to be english, would it?

I don't remember what class it was, but they may very well be the case. It's been quite a while since I talked to the gentleman.

Amen! Thanks not only for the site but to the many folks here that have either directly or indirectly educated me on the ways of the diesel! Still lots more to learn, but I've picked up quite a bit of knowledge in a short time thanks to this place!-Steve
