Oil testing blotter method

I have been doing some reading on testing oil with chromatography paper. Basically a business card and a drop of oil placed on the card. Thought I might add in some links for others to read and make comment on.

There is a bit of reading but take up a coffee and check it out I found it very interesting and fun to do.

That's interesting! I heard about blotter paper testing for soot/insolubles several years ago from a very sharp individual and it made good sense. I wonder about the rest of the oil test - like TBN and all the additives. My bypass has kept soot levels very low with any oil but TBN with some oils has gotten depleted when everything else was still good. I wonder if anyone has a complete on-the-spot test kit. Craig
