Oil in the fuel tank???

Hello, I am fairly new here and will be getting my first diesel pretty soon, which will of course be the CTD. My question is, I keep hearing about people putting oil in the gas tank? Is there a benefit of doing this? and if so how often should you add some and how much should you add? is this recommend by Dodge or Cummins?

Thanks ahead for all the input.

Lot of information on this in the fuel section of the forum... Mostly used as an additive to relieve the economic pressure in you wallet and reduce the heat in your checkbook.

I would stick to a good name brand additive that actually states on the bottle somewhere that it adds lube.

I would not put oil in mine, but alot of people do.
