odd truck pull when braking
odd truck pull when braking
Hey guys so im a bit stumped but i dont have any help or way to check this out at the time. So i thought i would ask for some advice
When im driving down the road, my steer wheel sits at the 11 o clock position, im sure aligingment might be tweeked, its winter after all. But she drives straight with no pulling. However when i hit my brakes is another story but its wierd.
When my brakes are applied my steering wheel straightens out to the 12 position but the truck takes off to the left. So as the wheel turns right the truck goes left.
Anyone have any ideas?

Ok ummm, let's see.....
My first question is, does the wheel rotate to the right even if you are NOT touching it?
2) When driving at speeds above 50, do you have any slop in the steering? (rotate wheel side to side and not feel the truck shaking)
3) Will it do this even when driving slow? Under maybe 15 to 20 MPH?
4) Have you tried it in reverse to see what happens?

Clapper sticking was my first though, but it did not account for the steering wheel turning right ( im not touching it it just goes that way) and the truck veering left. So i too thought alignment/ toe caused by loose bearings ( i might have one going bad but feel no wobble or anything) because that would be corrected by the clapper squeezing. still didnt account for much. Do i have play? didnt seem like any more than normal. Today I jumped under the truck. and holy moly im lucky im not dead. The nut was all but off of the tie rod end and it was just sitting in the knuckle. ****** me off a bit, pry 8k ago i had ball joints done but was over a year ago. still dont know how that came loose oh well i
Fixed that took for a quick test drive, didnt correct it though. shucks. back to the drawing board
