General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

NV5600 Value

What would be the resale value (about) for an NV5600 that drives but needs to be rebuilt. I will not drive the truck b/c I dont like to "drive it 'till it dies" like some people do. It feels as though a bearing or two is bad or something.

When you are trying to buy one...they are all going for about $2500-4000 in good shape.

But when you try to sell one you are lucky to get $1000 out of it...I only got $800 for mine.

I would suggest you find out for sure in fact you have a bearing out in it. I Thought I had a bearing out in the Trans and turned out to be a bearing in the rear Diff. I was told that a bearing going out somewhere else in the the drive train can resonate into the trans and make it feel like thats where its coming from. I spent alot of money rebuilding my trans and turned out that wasn't the problem so learn from my mistake!!

My trans is acting funny sitting still. It seems to want to try to jump into gear (well...its only done that a couple times. It is also hard to shift into gear sometimes or tries to go into two gears at once.

Wow that's some good info to keep in mind for "someday". Was there something specific that made you look at the diff, or was it because you then knew the tranny was good?
