NEw Truck

Well guys I hate to tell you all this but I am going to the dark side and getting a 99 crew cab 7.3 4x4 2mrw. I had to do this b/c I am on a budget as to how much i could spend and the dodge doesn't have a true crew cab. Anyways I was wondering if you guys knew of a good chip or programmer for this truck, not anything major just a good all around chip to increase the power around 100hp and net better mpg. Also I need advice on what forum to go to to get info on the truck. I have looked and compared to this site and the people on it, there is nothing even close!

I agree with Diesel Dave!!! 7.3 good motor. Plus you have the option to drop a 12 valve in it later down the road!!!!! Thats what I would do. I know absolutely nothing about programming a flowerstroke...HAHA. Sorry.

Maybe just do a search for Ford Forums.

The 7.3 are not as great as you think. I was looking at them a few months ago. There Turbo's go around 100k and the Eo4 is only good for 100k also. But the biggest issue of that motor is the oil pan. They rot out and its very expensive to fix it. But if it was cared for it should do you very well, Just take a peak at the pan before you buy it. as for Turbo and tranny well you would have to worry about pump and tranny on Dodge so thats a wash

my buddys got 96 7.3 and works great there not good for moding big big but u can do lots of little things to make it better. on those motors u can make ur own engine brake u can do some fuel tricks like we put a bebe in a fuel line to up fuel psi and made it more lively and were doing the tc lock up mod now

I believe they switched trannys half way thru the 99 model year. If the powerstroke v8 emblem is out on the fender by the marker light than it is the earlier tranny (e4od?) if it says power stroke turbo diesel on the door that it is the later 4100r I believe.
