New paint- Rat rod black or deep purple?

My ol '97 is finally loosing the luster from the paint, and ever since I debadged it and pulled the stripping from the sides, my paint's been chipping like crazy. My Mickey Thompson rims are unbearably difficult to keep clean also, and my truck is looking like crap right now. I have two ideas- wondering which you all like more.

Originally, I was planning on doing a really deep purple (almost black) that kind of changes to black depending on how the light hits it.

Now, I'm thinking about possibly doing a flat black primer (rat rod style) job, and maybe spraylining the rockers to protect them. I'm also thinking about spraying my Mickey Thompson Classic locks black, clearcoating them, and leaving the center caps, lugs, and lock rings chrome.

Either way (and especially if I do the purple) I'll probably add some pocket flares for protection for the paint.

What do you all think? THanks! -Josh

sounds good either way ya go man, just when you flat black it, use flat clear coat to protect the paint or it will chip like crazy.

not sure how much this cost, but one option for the rat rod look is to lay down a black base coat and spray flat clear on top of it. saw this on project 'Old School' on trucks.
