According to allpar.com the lx/ly full size platform is going to be the only chrysler cars all the rest will be FIAT. I wouldn't think they would mess with jeep too much considering the only vehicle in Chryslers line up that is increasing in sales over last year is the Jeep Wrangler. It is up 17% for the year.

I was at a dealer yesterday having something checked on my truck.
They didn't seem the least bit interested in selling anyone a vehicle...Kinda strange.
One of the salesman was sitting at the Help Desk, and I walked up and asked if he's started studing up on Fiats..He laughted at that.
He said that from what they've been told, it's just about a done deal. (merger)

At this point I'd like any merger just to keep the parts counters open.
The reason Ford outsells the others imo, is they offered a 450/ 550 chassis long ago, the cabs were bigger(as mentioned) and aside from the engine they build a pretty tough work truck(unfortuneately)
Don't hop on my case, I am a loyal 34 -Dodge- trucks -owner, but at work I am forced into blue oval at work. The mgmt. chose blue oval over dodge 12 years ago based on the bid price of one truck. The other issue was the performance of the then new 95 Dodge they had bought and a previous 92 with a 518auto that wasn't suited for the task. That slap together, make do with what we already have on the shelf trans, and cheap out on front end parts for a work truck so it can ride nice mentality was the end of an era where I work. The older dodges dating into the 70's were still around, but two trucks from the nineties left a bad taste. This is one small scenario, but ya think that didn't go on everywhere? I know the big three have all had their issues, but after 12 years of Fords in service, finally Dodge got around to offering a 'Super duty' chassis.Ford had 12 yrs where I work to show the good and the bad, while Dodge didn't have anything to offer. I see it with the contractors too. If one company's trucks are all over the road, the 'me too' syndrome kicks in. Dodge cab chassis trucks went from being everywhere in the government world to practically non existent.Dodge vans sold well and they dropped the vans for Sprinters. Sprinters are good I guess, but for a work van, The Dodges were cheap to buy.I love Chrysler, but they cut their nose off to spite the face every chance they get.
I hope Fiat can do something. I was just feeling the momentum of Dodge with some of the performance cars, and now in these economic times their momentum may have stalled again.
I find it odd that when it comes to foreign involvement in the big three, it has never been permanent.I guess we are just to stubborn to the ways of the world when they rebadge it.

You couldn't have said it better by stating why your employer had "a bad taste in it's mouth" and why they won't buy dodges anymore.
This is what happened to our domestic auto producers, they messed us over in the 80s-90s and now they have to pay for it. They let the bean counters design the cars and forgot they had to be in business still a decade later instead they went with the quarter by quarter profit margins.

I think you guys are on to something there... The early autos in the dodges, and even the later transmissions (4 speed instead of 5 or 6) hurt performance.
One of the other things Ford offers that would attract me is the wider front axle in the F450 and optional in the F350 dually. It turns an amazingly tight circle, and would make their trucks much easier to handle in a parking lot.
