New diesel man..need help
Re:New diesel man..need help
HC... I sounds like this gauge is best for a standard, mine is an automatic, is there a difference or should I get the gauge for my auto as well. I am ordering the truck so if you answer in time maybe I can have the factory install it. I just ordered it 2 weeks ago and will take 6 more weeks for delivery. Thanks again...Dave

EGT gauge would be of equal value to auto or standard owners. You still have to decide when you use OD, when to lock it out. Also, both standards and auto's should cool the turbo before shutdown, which is a second major benefit of having a gauge. In cooler weather, with the gauge by adjusting my driving style to "easy" about 3 minutes before getting to my destination, I often find I can pull in and shut down almost immediately just like a non-turbo vehicle. To me, this gauge is a big time saver and gives a lot of piece of mind.

Your dealer may or may not be willing to install one - you will have to go aftermarket for the gauge, and if you don't want to do the install yourself, you'll have to find a shop that can do it for you. Chose ONLY someone who can tell you he's done it before. I like Dakota Digital, but many others are good too.
