Need Reviews Pre-07 and Post-07

I am looking into buying a 2007 Dodge CTD, 4x4, QC, Auto. It is in great shape, has a clean car-fax, has 80,000 miles. Price is $22,000, but he will probably come down to $20,500 as I have dealt with this dealership before.

I currently drive a 2003 Dodge CTD, 4x4 QC, Auto. Smarty, Guages, leveling kit, is all. it has 168,000 miles, in very good condition. He will probably give me $15,000 for mine. I owe less than 9.

For those that have owned both, what would you reccomend? Stay with the Pre-07 trucks, or are you finding that the 07 and newer are just as good and reliable? Looking for all pro's and con's.

If you got the 07, what would be you first mods?

Thanks in advance for all responses.

At 80k mi, you can see the history of emissions problems, or lack of. (Assuming it's a 6.7. If it's a 5.9, you have nothing to warry about.)
If it hasn't had emissions problems, everything else should be fine. I'm pretty partial to teh 6sp auto and factory exhaust brake. Quite a step up from the 5.9 autos.

It seems that the 6.7 have had a lot of problems, emmision realated. The 09's are suppose to be pretty good. The fixes have all been software. It could be the 07 6.7 is OK with all the software upgrades. The 5.9 track record speaks for itself. I think I would keep your truck, it's just broken in.

Keep your 5.9L

Remember the grass isn't always greener...and 9k shouldn't take long to pay off...

I would FAR rather have a paid for 5.9L than a 6.7L that I owe money on.
