I bought a 94 Safari motorhome with a 93 chassis a few months back. It has an 8.3 Cummins with an Allison 6 speed trans. The gauge for trans. temp. does not work at all. Does anyone know if there is a sending unit on the trans. or where I should start ?

Is this you and the chassis?

 

I would check for any "one wire" connection to a sensor. It could be mounted in the pan, cooler output line or somewhere on the transmission case for that matter.

Hi Mikelr, I looked at the trans. but didn't think about the line and cooler. I'll check there also. Thanks for the tip.

 

2 wire sensor on the right side of the trans case.
