I will have to vote for a 4x4. Ive heard these trucks will get stuck on wet grass because the motor is so heavy. Especially w/out a limited slip. $6K sounds a little steep for a 95 2wd. I bought my 98 4x4 for $7500. Look nice and hard, better to be buying now then selling, so you should have a few to look at. Although the 94-98s are getting tougher and tougher to find. Santa Barbara you say? Id look at on craigslist up north, and autotrader.com, also you can buy cheap one way flights and drive the thing home so dont be afraid to look at places like Texas, Utah, Montana, and Colorado where there are a lot of these trucks running around.

so I found a 95 Dodge Diesel 2x4 longbed for $6000. only 126k. pretty well taken care of. body is very good too. I think I'm going to go to it. after i get it, I'll need some advice from all of you for some easy modifications to improve the truck. maybe an air intake and a larger exhaust. is there anything you guys can coach me along with this? thanks for all the help so far. soon to be a proud owner for a dodge diesel....

Intake Air and Exhaust seems to be the first thing we all do!.....BUT.....
While I'm not a 12v expert, I can say, if anything like the 24v's, factory air filter set up and the exhaust is fine up to 350 or 400 hp.
For more intake air...just drill holes in bottom of filter canister.
I'd save your money for other things, till you decide you want more hp than that! JMO
