mpg from the big three pulling

we went sledding over the christmas break with a few buddys pulling the same load, 4place inclosed sled trailers, about the 15k in total weight, the ford was a 06 , dodge was a 03 and chevy was 03, all diesels

trip consisted of 1400 miles in total and the dodge and chevy had lp on for the trip, all trucks were making good power, ford about 400, dodge about 550, duramax about 590

best mileage came with the dodge at 18.6 mpg cdn, second was the duramax with a 18.0, and third ford, 12.7

looks like the lp did a great gain, and the extra tq was also nice to have

The trouble with LP is that your not figuring that into your mpg calculation. If you are how are you doing it? In a way its skewed because each truck probably doesn't use the same amount of LP. The real test would be straght #2 and calculate mileage from that.

you could be right about skewed numbers with lp...

but as for mileage differance, my dic in the cluster shows about a 2.8mpg advantage when i turn the lp on over being off

and on my chevy tank that gives me another 78 miles per tank of diesel, and the cost to fill my lp tank is about 10 dollars...
