Moving To Florida!!!!

Alright guys, in case you couldn't tell, I'm moving to florida. What kind of regulations do they have on diesel and are the cops real *headaches to guys like us? I guess this is really a question for anyone in the north tampa area (dade city). Well i hope yall wish me luck.

later

By the way, im not really sure if this is in the right forum

* See how a simple word change can get your point across without violating the posting rules?

Guys like us??? What exactly does that mean???

Don't know what you do to raise suspicions but I have no problems with law enforcement here-although I follow the rules.

NO inspections, I REPEAT, No inspections,

You register by weight, tell them what weight you want, but I never heard of
a PU truck being checked, Maybe in farm country when it's obvious.

It's hard to get stopped on the interstate, 10 plus the norm

Seat belt enforcement usually broadcast on radio ahead of time and where.

Locall speed traps on side streets by sheriff only concern.

All in All not a bad state... JUST TO DARN HOT IN SUMMER

Enjoy...

I lived in Tampa for about 7 years. Just watch your speed on Saturdays going over the Howard Frankland bridge. There's a cop likes to sit on the Pinellas side with a laser.

Otherwise you can usually drive 75 on I-4, I-75 and I-275 without much hassle. But I didn't have my truck then just my little white blazer which I drove from n. Tampa to St. Pete everyday.

I lived in Fla during the good ole days in the 80's and early 90's before coming my senses! My major beef was the DL changeover. My old D/L said I was good to 26,000#, the new FL D/L only gave me 8000# and I had to test for the higher category, which is BS!

Also, the plates for 2500+ expire Dec each year, not on your birthday.

first off, thanks to admin for catching that. I was not sure if that was in violation or not.

rammtuff, what i meant by guys like us, is that i've heard stories of guys being pulled over and inspected because they had stacks in their bed. I know it sounds kinda ridiculous, but thats just the kind of things i've heard. Then again i don't know if they were blowing smoke or not.

And thanks to everyone else for the info on where to watch out for.

the d/l change got me too.

I had a chauffuer license before, which allowed me to drive anything on the road. When they changed it over, I was out to sea (navy), and never got the chance to get a new one. Had I done that, I'd have been grand fathered in and had a full blown cdl from the git go.
