Question which motor to use

Well the motor went south on the 03 with 2 scalded pistons, i know have the choice of putting a 97 12v in it or going back with the original. i think the 12 would be less trouble since i have a lot of injector issues with this truck plus it would be a real 4 door with a 12v motor. Was just wanting some other opinions plus how hard would it be to resale.

Not sure on the resale, but I would say if you have the chance to ditch the VP44 for a P pump, that would make the decision for me. . . I would think that anyone that knows these trucks would feel the same given the choice.

Being an 03 it should have a CP3. I would rebuild the cr engine and put a good 2 micron fuel filtration system on it along with some Flux 1 injectors from Don. Are you running a pressure box on it?

Whats the price difference between the 12v and rebuilding the CR? Getting the 12v in and running won't be that hard, but getting it to play nice with the rest of the truck could be an issue, especially if automatic.

I'd stick with the CR. Lots more capability in the advanced technology, and the tech isn't so immature like it was when your 03 was new.
