Manual Burnout

How do go about doing a burnout with a manual tranny? I usually just rev it up and build a little boost and then drop the clutch. But i cant keep them spinning for very long. Any tips for a better burnout?

when i do it i use my right foot on the brake and the skinny pedal. toes on the brakes and heel on the fuel. i rev it up to about 2500rpm or so and slowly let the clutch out tille you can feel it start to grab, this helps to take the slack out of the driveline then i "pop" the clutch. i usually switch my left foot to the brake so i have better control, unless i want to shift while doing a burn out, but i dont let off the brakes till i'm done. when you let the clutch out all the way make sure to mash down on the skinny pedal to keep em roastin!!

Will that hurt my brakes. I mean i know it will over time but if i only do it every now and again i should be ok right. I have been just puttin it in 2nd and letting it roll a little and then putting my foot on the brake and my right foot on the gas and mashing it. The bad thing is then i cant shift so i do a burn out but im afraid to hold it for long because of my rpm's getting to high.

i dont recommend shifting during a burnout and what you have been doing is perfectly acceptable. just when you do it dont let anyone stand close and dont do it on the street. Another option is to get line locks. they are electonicly control you pump the brake 2-3 times and hold it and hit the button, it locks the fronts and released the rears

Rev it up, drop the clutch, stab the brake, let off the brake, powershift, stab the brake.

I don't see a GSK in your sig, so I wouldn't worry about revving too high. Your governor will max it around 2900 rpm or so.

Where and how would i get line locks and are they expensive? How is the install? difficult or easy? long or short?

yeah it will put some more wear and tear on the back brakes but if you arent doing it everday then you probably wont notice a difference, it will wear out your tires way faster than you brakes.

Why do you say dont let anyone stand close? Because of breakages or what?

Probably not so much the breakage, more as in lurching truck with and inexperienced burner outer. Truck can move side ways of lurch forward pretty quick. Definetly don't wanna be the one to spin your tires on someones new nikes either.

Yeah good point. the truck does have a tendency to move off to the side occaisionally.

Move to the frozen north. I can burnout all day long in any gear from Oct. through May or April.

And you won't wear out your tires, at only $200+ a pop each...

line lock kits are about $150 for a universal kit. the one i installed for a guy goes right before the rubber hose there on the frame rail in the wheel well. its just a little solenoid that when active block the brake fluid from returning to the master cylinder. i think it took an hour start to finish. not hard at all just follow the direction and take your time.

i've seen tires blowout and they find debris. plus as mention by others, the rear end can wonder side to side and lurch. i did one once where i didnt have enough traction in the front end and my truck kept moving with the front brakes locked
