Whats funny is the loud mouth's like this never want to go to the drag strip with ya. Thats where I like to race. Its all legal, and NO EXCUSES! There is another boy that is kinda the same way, but he had an 01 6spd with some work. He always wanted to race me, but wouldnt go to the drag strip with me. Plus at the drag strip, you have to go from a stop. I dont like all this "ill race you from a 60 kick" crap. i wanna race from a dig! The bad thing for me, is that the drag strip is about 1 1/2 hours away. Kinda sucks, but I still make it a few times a year. I get a kick out of everyone who is always sayin yeah, I beat this car or whatever than runs a 13.5 sec quarter. Then they go to the strip a run a horrible time Oh well. These people are usually at least funny to listen to.

I've been a street racer for too many years. Stories like this are almost as common as cars. If you're going to shut people like this up, you have to know where and how to race them. Like the old saying goes; Never give a sucker an even break. I just sold my best sleeper a couple of months ago. It was an AWD turbo with nitrous. Looked stock accept for the muffler. I never lost on the street, in 4 years. Even beat a high 8sec "street car". The reason, AWD and I got to pick the road. I chose a dirty street in an industrial area and I beat that 8sec car by 500ft. I beat a 1000hp Viper in a similar race, accept the streets were cold, about 30 degrees. I never ran that car flat out at the track so nobody, not even me, knew haw fast it really was. I sold it after I was challenged to run a 9 sec street car (that appeared on the TV show Pinks last summer) and the guy wouldn't even give me the hit. He swore my car ran 9's and got totally po'd that I wouldn't race him heads up for $1000.
Some guys talk and some guys race and every once in a while a guy can do both.

It's funny you say that about old VW's. I've owned 5 of them and everyone of them I tried to get fast. I managed a 12.98@105 in my 65' with 2280cc motor w/ twin 48mm delorto's carbs. But that was 14 years ago when I was 16/17 on a low budget. I couldn't imagine how fast it could've been on today budget .I keep thinking about buying another for my son and I to build when he get's old enough.
