Hey, this is right up there with the honda and toyota drivers parking in all the big parking spots. Leaving the Compact parking for the dually 1 ton trucks!

Then the *******'s get angry when the cat even get to their car. YES we know the truck is big. They should be less concerned with getting their precous car scratched than a 1 ton dually using two compact spots!!!!

Credit card companies charge a 3% transaction fee so Pilot keeps that fee to a minimum buy only allowing you $50 per transaction. It's a pain for us but they have to do it otherwise they'd lose many millions of dollars on their fuel sales.

????

3% of $50 three times is the same as 3% of $150 one time. Your logic is off a bit.

It's still a pain.

I was wrong about that Every major truck stop chain limits diesel purchases on mastercard and visa. They did an article in their Sept issue of Challenge magazine, unfortunately it's not linked up on their website, something about they were getting "chargebacks" on anything over $50 or $75 (depending on the card) from the credit card companies for millions of dollars on properly authorized and verified purchases using zip codes so they stopped accepting them. Pay at the pump is a $50 or $75 limit per transaction, if you pay inside and sign the receipt there is no purchase limit. It has something to do with eliminating fraud in the fine print of the credit card issuer. Here was a story on it:

I got in an argument a couple weeks ago with two fat women driving minivans. The station has 4 pumps with only 1 having diesel. Of course these women are both parked at the diesel pump talking away and not even pumping gas. After sitting there idling for several minutes I kindly asked them to move so I could pump. They both looked at me and told me to go to another pump in a rather rude tone. That set me off and I told them both to get out of the way the other pumps dont have diesel and a bunch of other stuff thats not appropriate for this site. I started revving the truck and honking the horn until they finally moved.

I have had the frustration of waiting for the diesel pumps to open up at many of the stations that I frequent. I understand completely.

However, as is indicated in my signature, both my wife and daughter also drive diesels.....Volkswagens. And both of them have been rudely treated by diesel pickup drivers that wanted them to move to another pump and were either too ignorant or too blind to recognize what they were driving.

It has gone as far as a pickup driver pulling the nozzle out of my daughter's tank, and reprimanding her for not knowing what kind of fuel she was putting in her vehicle!

The only saving grace is that my wife and daughter are both very capable of turning real angry when properly motivated (think Linda Blair in the Exorcist!!!). All of the rude offenders so far have last been seen retreating with a large chunk of their hindquarters missing .

I have reminded people what kind of fuel they are putting in their vehicles but that's only if I'm sure they are putting diesel in a gas powered vehicle.... Come to think of it both times were at BP where they insist upon putting green handles on ALL of their pumps and putting both gas and diesel on the same machine.

Man, just reading this thread makes me want to go back to a horse and buggy!!

I don't have trouble buying diesel. It's usually a small town of 5,000 with 3 places to purchase diesel, and folks seem human.

My biggest gripe is getting gas. I usually go the the Casey's store. Getting those young girls to turn on the pump often times requires going in and asking them to get off the phone. (I usually just go in and ask them, "If I were looking for the manager who would I ask for? What is their cell number?") Their social life takes priority, but then they get off the phone quickly. Or like Bent Valve mentioned, people purchasing lottery tickets, then seeing if they got a winner, then buying more. Man, is it a gas station or a lottery station?

2x On that!! One time I was fueling up and this gasser with 2 young girls pulls up. One starts fueling and the other gets out, stands at the rear of the car, yakking on the cell and then LIGHTS UP A CIGARETTE!! I said, very politely but with urgency that she shouldn't be smoking at the fuel island while their filling up. She asked me who the h*** I thought I was to tell her anything and then told me to mind my own ******* business!! At this point I decide to lower myself and use her language and again told her to move away from the pumps if she wanted to smoke. Again, more profanity came back at me. I went into the cashier and told them. They got on the intercom and told them to not smoke at the pump. Did they listen?? NO. Well, they finish pumping their gas and then move their car over to the side of the lot. Now both of them are on their phones. I still am filling up, 140 gal. capacity, and within a few minutes I see a State Trooper pull in and go over to the girls. I'm thinking he's gonna let them know that they shouldn't be smoking at the pumps but he then comes over to me and starts talking to me about using profanity and a possible disturbing the peace charge!! I can't believe it!! Now usually I shut my truck down after a few minutes of cooling down, but hadn't done that since my routine was interrupted with the smoking girl. SOOO, the trooper starts telling me about the dangers of a running engine at the pumps. Tells me that I could ignite the place with a static charge off the seats just as quickly as smoking at the pump - HUH??? When he let me speak, I tried to lighten things up by telling him that this was not a good day to get BLOWN UP by an inconsiderate person smoking at a gas pump. I really wanted to tell him that it would take the static charge of a lightening bolt to possibly ignite #2 diesel fuel versus a very minor spark to ignite gasoline fumes - like smoking, but kept my mouth shut and YES sirred him till he got off my case. The girls?? They left laughing after the trooper left.

You said it best yourself. You could have turned the truck around to get to the other side of the pump, or the other pump,(not sure I totally understood the pump diagram) but that was too much trouble? Sometimes you just have to be smarter than the person that is making you mad.

I got a fleet fueling card, and now I go to commercial fill stations only. No cashiers, no lines, generally no other trucks, definitely no gassers because it's diesel only. High output pumps, clean station, always water, squeeges and paper towels available.

The network has stations all over where I live. I can also use the card at other stops for truckers.

The only downside is that the price per gallon is generally not listed at the pump, but the prices on my monthly billing statement are always on par with the lowest prices of publicly available fuel.

Anyone can get this card as long as you start your own business, which for a sole proprietorship generally means saying "I'm in business!"

I used to fuel up in the presence of gassers and usually asked people to pull to the next pump if they were blocking me (no one ever said no), but it was very annoying.
