I stopped by my local Cummins dealer today to get my 7 micron fuel filter. This dealer is owned by Cummins. The parts guy, who seemed very knowledgeable told me that they couldn't get the 7 micron filters because they weren't approved by Cummins. Seems it would cause too much work for the fuel pump and that Cummins hasn't seen any injector or pump problems with these engines running 10 micron filters. He also said that the OTR trucks don't use anything smaller than 10 micron.

Beware gentlemen, you may be killing your baby with kindness!

 

That's why it's a good idea to upgrade your fuel setup......... stock is for Wallstreet... mod that baby...
