A good friend of mine called a little while ago to report that he had seen a D-max pulling what he described as a very large travel trailer. The truck was in the left lane, attempting to accelerate, while my friend was in the right lane. He says that the truck was dumping so much fuel and running so rich that he was belching enough black smoke to completely fill both lanes and make it hard to see.
My buddy had the window of his Pontiac Bonneville down and his elbow on the windowsill as he passed him on the right, when his arm got peppered by a bunch of shards of smoldering hot aluminum that came flying out of the exhaust. He said it burned quite badly, and he laid into the throttle to get by the guy when he saw a huge cloud of oil smoke fill all 4 lanes behind him as the D-Max pulled to the shoulder. This guy had a melt down of his engine internals and this is every diesel modifier's worst nightmare, and the exact reason that you should invest in a good set of gauges.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall when they do his engine tear down.

Sounds like the video where the guy filmed himself trying to keep up with "an old Dodge" but couldn't because his Duramax kept overheating. Except this time it actually blew up like it's supposed to.
read a review about a Dmax v Cummins v Ford and they were drag racing up a mile long hill (or something like that) with a loaded trailer the Dmax exploded! bone stock rigs. the cummins trugged right thru and they didnt even attempt it in the powerjoke cuz they didnt want it to blow up too ha sounds pretty entertaining to watch if you ask me!

wow hot pieces of metal made it all the way out the exhaust, through the turbo, catalytic converter and muffler, and at the same time oil is pouring out too, but the metal separated from the oil and hit your buddy's arm right as the whole mess exited the tailpipe. How did he know it was aluminum and how does a diesel run rich? Must have been some sight for your buddy to see!

(im not saying this because its a dmax, some powerstroke guy posted a story just like this, well similar to this story, on the diesel garage about a CTD and I responded the exact same way I did here, Id be happy to dig up the thread for anyone who thinks Im being a troll)
