Hope says there's a diesel in my future
Ever since the Mega Cab concept was unveiled I've been drooling about a Mega Cab, I just can't cope with having a gas Mega Cab considering the lousy gas mileage it must get.
So what's the problem?...Problem is I live in Mexico and the Mega Cab had not been offered in a Diesel version until this month. Of course I still have some things to do before I get it (like pay the wife's Honda Oddisey on which I still have 3 years to go on the loan), reduce some other debt and come up with the down payment but heck, now at least I know I'll be able to get one eventually. Even if it ends up being 2-3 years old and not brand new, that's still fine.
Funny as it is, part of wanting the Mega Cab is the wife and kid's complaints about how uncomfortable the back of my Silverado is. On the other side of the coin, it's also the wife who argues against the Mega Cab given its Mega length saying I must be out of my mind by wanting something that long and on top of it, a noisy, smelly, smoky diesel (she has not seen a Cummins at work, most Diesels around here are older engines and not precisely Cummins). In reality I have no use for a Diesel and in reality I drive a truck for 3 reasons only, 1) I like them; 2) I need one to carry all the stuff when I go fishing (have an inflatable boat with a 15 hp outboard for it), and 3) trucks pay very little taxes compared to any other vehice (in Mexico that is). So as you see, I could drive really any truck, even a compact would do for me, but...the family wants to ride with me on those long fishing trips, hence the need to have them ride comfortably...
For now. back to reality, I'll continue to drive my extended cab 02 4X4 Silverado.
