actually, TX law requires that the exhaust must exit behind, beside, or above the passenger compartment

what about running one at an angle coming out the fender about where the antenna is? that would be "beside" the passenger compartment, don't ever roll down the window though

Unless you had solid motor mounts I think the torquing action would eventually break the pipe. Maybe if you used thick pipe from the turbo and lighter stuff on the up pipe....

Actually, not if you do it right!

All the pullers use a "2 piece" hood stack. They'll make a fixed section under the hood of whatever diameter comes out of the turbo....then on the hood they'll go, say an inch bigger with the visible stack so it moves WITH the hood!

Scroll towards the bottom of BBD's webpage and you'll see what I mean

I would really like to have one of these, but I'm and my driving record aren't too fond of all the "attention" it would grab.

The only thing that will be tingling is your ears after about 2 minutes of driving with a hood stack. Not to mention that when you roll the windows down, the exhaust will be sucked right in. Staight pipe stacks behind the cab are barely tolerable but infront with that little exhaust plumbing is going to kill your ears. The truck will be a mess with soot too. Don't get me wrong I think it would be cool. I love the idea of seeing the exhaust as you put your foot in it like a tractor but it's not practical.

why would it kill your ears? it'll be farther from your ears and it won't be able to resonate the cab by running under and right up against the back of it, and it won't be able to resonate the bed because it won't be bolted to it...

in case there was still any interest i finally got around to doing this and so far i'm loving it. it's no louder than a stack in the bed (quieter i think and no probs running with the drivers window down... haven't messed with the passenger window mostly because it's a pain to get back up.

There is a guy that lives down the road here in London, OH that has a silver 2nd gen dually with a hood stack parked in the driveway. I keep meaning to stop and ask him what his story is but I never have enough time.
