I don't know what pump is on them, I have only seen a couple of the hino's. They had one on display where I work, nice looking truck. I may be wrong but does'nt toyota have a hand in that truck?

yeah, its toyotas truck division, most dont know this but they are the largest truck manufacturer in the world. i looked at the ud, mitsubishi, and gmc/isuzu. hino has them all beat in terms of build quaility. the trucks weigh 9600 lbs each, they have 10 gauge dump bodies. i get 17 mpg empty, and 15 with the trucks towing a 6,000 lb loaded trailers. i went from chevy 3500 gassers to these, the fuel savings alone payed for one of these trucks

Yes they are a quality truck, The one we had on display at work was a very nice truck. I also know that Roger Penske is teaming up with Toyota to start building class 8 trucks, I have not heard for sure where the plant will be located. You know that will be a nice truck as well. I am sure that will affect alot of us at work.

ive read 400,000 miles before it needs new liners, and then itll keep going quite a bit more, but was just wondering bout the injection pump? i know hinos are used alot in boats. most people have never heard of a hino in the U.S. but was told about them 20 years ago by an excellent diesel mechanic that if u want a cab forward truck, hino was the one to buy. they are just starting to get popular here. garbage haulers here have just started using their new line of class 6-7 trucks with common rail.

Hinos=excellence!

I've driven a four-cylinder Hino Bobtail tiltcab for 206,000 miles here in San Diego. Maintenance has been sub-par,stop and go is the norm,and I've never let the turbo cool down like i do my Cummins. No additives,nothing. Total repairs to date:starter@201,000,head gasket@55,000,two brake jobs(fronts),master cylinder(200,000),ignition switch. That's it! It does need a steering box but my employer is too cheap to buy one. Hino Rocks! P.S. Allison vacuum,non-electronic,non-locking tranny shifts like brand new also. I'd drive this thing to Cabo San Lucas tommorow,but not off-road as it beats you to death!
