If it can't bea 4200 then I'd better check if its a 4100 or a 4300.

I don't recall a 4200 or 4100 series in 03 and up. I will do some digging and get back to you.

So the guy just sent me a picture that clearly shows '4200' on the side of the truck - felt like a bit of an idiot on that one. But there is clearly no 4200 on the IH web site. Any info would be appreciated.

Sorry pete, I did make a phone call to a friend at my local I/H dealer in regards to the 4200 it was an option in 06 but discontiued. The only power plant for the 4100 and 4200 were the VT365. The 4100/4200 are class 5 trucks, same ratings as an F-550 series. the 4300 series is an class 6 with multiple powertrain options as well as airbrakes.

Like I said, I would not buy it. if you are interested let me know and I will get the vin run for you and get you the history of the truck. I apologize for misleading you.

Thanks for the info, that truck is too small for me. Back to the 6500 - unless I can find a 4300.
