Re:Heat Guage???
BE ADVISED!!

Running the engine cooler will make it wear out faster!!

These engines are DESIGNED to run hot, and to handle the effects of pulling at MAX GVWR. They test these trucks with 100,000 miles of towing at MAX GVWR. That's why we have the built in oil coolers and all that heavy-duty stuff.

If you have ever seen it, there is a graph out there that shows the wear rate of a cylinder bore against operating temperature. Wear rate goes UP exponentially (real fast) as bore temperature goes down.

If the only reason you want lower temps is to control the fan, then fix the FAN, not the the temps.

Three words: HORTON FAN CLUTCH

The stock fan clutch is viscous. Inside it is a fluid that gets thicker as it gets hotter. Its designed to slip when it's cold ( less coupling, so fan spins slow) and to bite when hot (more direct coupling, fan spins faster).

The problem with a viscous fan clutch is that it never goes all the way. When cold, the fan still spins. When HOT, the fan still slips.

A Horton fan clutch solves all this problem. It gives you faster warm up via 100% freewheel when cold. It gives you better cooling via 100# lockup when needed.

DO NOT CHANGE YOUR T-STAT, to solve a fan clutch problem. Your engine LIKES warmer temps, and needs them to operate properly.

My 2 cents

HOHN
