Heard a rumor!!!!
I heard a rumor from a guy at a truck stop that supposedly his BUDDY filled his truck up with Regular Gasoline. He had a 2nd Gen Cummins. He said that his BUDDY drove 11 miles and the truck started running like crap. (of course I said yeah who's truck wouldn't) He than said that his BUDDY took it to a shop and they purged the system and put diesel fuel back in it. And than his oil Pressure went way up. So the confused BUDDY took it to a shop and told them what had happened and they pulled the oil pan to check and make sure the bottom end was good and when they did they said it was spotless for a truck that had over 200,000 miles on it. So now his BUDDY puts 1 or 2 gallons of regular in every time he fills up.
Now I say that they guy was an idiot and he put gas in his 2nd gen cummins and to make himself feel good about it he said that it made hos truck run better.
So my question is: If you put Regular Gasoline in your deisel will it help clean out your system?
I think that it would destroy the engine if you asked me but thats why I am asking here. Also I thought that it would give everyone a good laugh or make them more careful about which pump they pull up to.

Hmmm... I think that I have heard of people up north putting a gallon or so in the winter so that their fuel does not gell... gas is more of a 'solvent' than diesel, so I can see it cleaning out injectors... not the bottom end, tho.

badme whats "cold" to you, well see -40 during the winter and i have not heard or gas to be used. i have heard of diesel used to flush out gas motors between oil changes. diesel being put right in the oil fill not gas tank.

I agree with Hohn, keep the gas around for parts washing only. Actually in a chem course in college we came to a conclusion that mixing gas into diesel actually made the fuel not stabil. From what I remember, the diesel/gas mixs become more explosive like gasoline is. Now let that guy know if he dumps some 2-stroke oil or a good additive in his tank every fill up his VP will stay lubed.
Because adding gas to your fuel tank rebuilds the bottom end, thus increasing your oil pressure. It is magic! I bet he also has a fuel cell on his truck to give him over 50mpg, and his fuel economy actually gets better when he is towing a trailer.
