General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I have 2 cars that I drive on occasion. On really fine days I drive my '68 Camaro convertible, 327, 4spd. On some days when it's not so fine, a little too hot or cold for the vert, I can drive my 500+ hp '03 Cobra. The problem with driving either one of those, is the fear of other drivers.
For peace of mind and respect on the road, there's nothing like a 4x4 with 33's on it to keep the idiots at bay.

My biggest problem with commuter cars is getting in and out. I am 6' 2" and about 215 so I am not overly large but my back and hips are not 100% and squeezing into a sardine can is not for me. With that said I am trying to get rid of the Toyota I have in the driveway now. I won't drive it cause it hurts to get into it.

I got to drive my sisters car (93 Nissan Altima) the other day and I too hate driving a car. I feel like my rear end is dragging on the ground. Sure makes me appreciate the ride height of my truck even more.

I want another 67 valiant slant six

I like the slant 6 almost as much as the cummins. Not bad on gas and runs for ever.

I say the vw bug has been bumped down.

Got the diesel, just by chance. A gasser I was looking at (96 dodge short-box.360) It was too nice to become a "shop-farm-beater".I tripped over the CTD. At first my concern actually driving it enough to keep it loosened up. Slowly that concern has shifted to my car. My 100 mile round-trip commute last week was 4 days in the truck, 1 day in the car. I had no idea these things had this addictive quality. Now, I just try to avoid the bombing posts. So far, so good. But, I'm getting a little weak. And, I know once you start down that road....
The should have had a warning label.

Thank you for an excellent example of how to get yourself in trouble. Do you think we have censor software here just so we can see how many different ways people can spell dirty words?

well, generally the first round of mods actually HELP all around... better performance, better fuel mileage, lower EGT's

it's when you start needing more (notice I used the word "need" not "want ) that's when it's easy to start going in the other direction

#4 is my favorite reason, but if it has to be a car I don't mind if it's one of my girlfriends' sports cars or my GTO... although I am a bit nervous driving w/o my truck(s).

I'm driving this

early 90's Isuzu 2wd standard cab pickup,
while my truck's down with a sick tranny.

While it's still a "truck" I really miss my man sized one.
Left foot can't handle a clutch like it could before I broke it a couple years ago,
no power steering, no cup holders, no tach, no power windows, no power door locks, no remote start, wee little tires, can't see over the vehicle in front of you, and it only has like a 12 gallon gas tank? what's up with that?

Truck is cool and Honda Accord is cool. Both have pros and cons. But I must agree to #4. With my truck, I don't get nervous when I'm next to an asian woman driver.
