I love almost everything about my truck however sometimes it's just to dang noisy if I could change one thing it would be to place the new quite motor in my truck, I'm not crazy about the new design of the truck. Has any one done this, considered it, pro/ cons?

If your engine still works, why not take a shot at soundproofing? I think that lots of the hard rap come from the oilpan. I read about somebody making a lead plating for it and getting good results.

Question

A quite cummins? .... Did you say quiter??? Are you feeling ok? What some advil?

Get the hood carpet kit if you allready don't have it and you can take off you oil pan and paint it with the 3M undercoating. Both seem to help on our trucks at work, other than that get a beter stereo.

Personally I am trying to make my truck LOUDER! SNL.."I GOTTA HAVE MORE COW BELL!"

I LOVE the 3rd generation looks, but HATE how quite the trucks are. I have been wanting a Dodge/ Cummins for about 4-5 years now, just never took the leap. Now that the looks of the third generation are just about irresistable, where'd the noise go???

People can say the previous generation Cummins are just too loud, but to me...MAN...can you say "I'm gettin a chubby"?
That sound ranks up there with a Federal Q winding up pulling off the pad at the station!!

My suggestion would be if the noise is too much then you probably don't like the smell either so buy an 8L Chev and enjoy quiet power coupled to an Allison. If the noise bothers you that much it means you are not happy with your purchase and you can buy a lot of gas for the cost of swapping out a 2nd gen engine for a 3rd gen engine. PK
