Talking Gotta love the cummins power

So few days ago i was asked by a few friends of mine to help them out this afternoon (saturday)to move an Advance Rummley steam engine they recently bought. The engine was about 1/4 mile off the road in a barn with a very big hill in the way. After we got the engine out of the barn and down the gravel drive we got to the base of the hill which is only 150 ft from the road. One friend of mine thought he could pull the 22,000 lb steam engine up the hill with an 830 diesel John deere. that worked for about 30 ft going up the hill, then they tried to pull the deere and the engine up the hill with his 2004 6 oh no PSD. That thing couldn't do squat, i've never seen a 6.0 in action before and man they are not what everyone makes them out to be. So we hooked up my truck next to it and started pulling and i had it about 1700 -1800 rpm and am pulling the deere up the hill with the engine and the 6.0 is screaming next to me and just holding everything up. In the end we hooked up my truck to the ford and i pulled the three up the hill in 4 low, it was a very interesting site to see! When i got to the top i had the guy in the ford unhook and i tugged the deere and engine the rest of the way down the road to be loaded. My friend that owns the ford said afterwards "Man my truck flat out sucks compared to yours!" You can beat the torque of a straight six. I hope to have some pictures of the train we had going developed in a few days and i will post them. It was a very interesting sight to see.

Did you get pictures?

You see, it is expressly forbidden to post anything of this nature without pictures.

It is a true shame that many owners of trucks like ours (including me) will never know the actual capability of that monster that lives and breathes beneath the hood. To think that a dual axle flatbed with lets say 2 bobcats on it and a pallet of fertiliizer in the bed will only make it giggle at us is sick.

Aint that the truth. Even after pulling at the county fair it still turns around looks at the sled and says " ah come on is that all you've got"

Thanks for all the replies, i too was very amazed at what these trucks are able to do. I wish the pics were better quality, i had to resize the pics so i could upload them to the site. My friends father that took most of the pictures said he has a bunch more for me, so I'll be posting some more tomorrow evening. That engine we were moving after we got it on the semi and back to my one friends place they power washed it out, filled it with water and started a fire in it. We had it moving last night on its own and it was impressive! The engine hadn't been touched in at least 25 yrs, it just sat in a barn.

You know, with some Photoshop action that incline could be twice as steep...
