if you really got the money, do it.

I agree that the box is off, but my P-shop skills aren't good enough to make it look right to fit the rear end; the best I could do was a ford one.

As far as the sleeper, I would not use one. Bentz Transport makes crew cabs for the KW so that's what I would go with. For the tranny, why not go Ultrashift? Why have to shift that much, when you don't have to. It would be different if semi's drove like my truck but having to double-clutch that much I think would get very annoying.

Also, the height would not be much over 10' as the top of the crew cab is only 8'6" off the ground in standard form with regular tires on it. If you factor in about 10" of lift (what is needed on the F-650 4x4s) and another 4" from the bigger tires you are only at 9'8" tall.

Like I said, this is my FIRST DRAFT; not a sketch you would build from. Keep the comments coming; except the guy who thinks that black powdercoated wheel ruined Optimus; you have no sense of style so you can no longer comment![laugh][laugh][laugh] J/K

dont get your feelings to hurt david. the guy that doesnt like the black powdercoated wheels hasnt been around long enough to remember the long build you went thru to get optimus where its at today! im sure you have in your mind exactly what you want and sometimes its hard to put it in photoshop. if you feel like this is the next project, then ill try to give you some of my unwarranted input along the way...its nice to have you back too! hows the wedding stuff coming along? emily still the one?

I think a CXT 4x4 would be the way to go.

Heck its even black.

Arnt you tire of heavly custom trucks that spend more time in the shop then in your garage.

Look at this its big and black and exactly what I think you're looking for and its not as custom as you idea, and you dont have to stress about something going wrong 2K miles from home.

Buy some big and new and then put your personal touch to it like this guy did.

You should consider parting some of your truck (as in the wheels/tires/adapters to ME). You know, offset some of the expense and all...

Why would you need to double clutch, float shifting is quicker anyway, I have sence of style, blacked out rims look awsome on you lambo and rice rockets, there is nothing like a highly polished truck gliding down the highway it's just way too much black for my tastes, I love chrome, I thought your dodge (I'm guessing you call it optimus) looked kick *** with it blacked out with the polished aluminum rims. Black and chrome go very nice together.

I don't quite get it... are you just trying to throw money away?

blackdiesel 10-07-2007 08:08 PM

jeez! put some chrome on it!!!!

'strokeThis_'07 10-07-2007 08:27 PM

Well, Im lookin past the photoshop you have (thanks by the way-I can see it now!!) and Im going to say it could be cool. Granted, not done the way the chop looks, but with a lot of refinement and attention to detail it could be pulled off...I say give it a try, opinions can be changed. Even as bull=headed as I am, Ive been swayed a time or two. I used to dislike stacks because people ran them too tall. Now I got a pair of 7" chrome mitres waiting for install on monday the 15th. and single stacks look good to me now. Let us know if ya do it.

Do you really have to get rid of optimus? That is one bad ride. Surely Emily can deal with two cool trucks. And I sure Diesel would enjoy them too. Think of your family.

But seriously, this sounds like a sweet project too. I await updated photoshop goodness.

Ummm, . . . . . Don't, . . . but tell everyone you did, and got tired of it.

Ten years from now, you'll feel much better. ;)

Here is what has made things so tough...
The Sportchassis (pictured above) is not 4x4 and can "only" have the ISC 330/1000 Cummins in it.
I NEED 4WD, I drive too much in weather where there is more than 12" of snow and LOTS of hills; I also need to tow in this weather and there just isn't enough weight on the rears of the RWD trucks to manage.
I totally agree about the bed. It needs to blend into the whole "scheme" of the truck-wider, taller, less rounded.
Like I said, I don't have the right pics of a W900 or a bed and I can only copy and paste with Photoshop as opposed to "create" the way the pros can.

I think of it as a Internation MXT on steroids or a cross between a Semi and H1 Hummer!

Since style is SO subjective, I am glad to be getting constructive criticism-it helps me see what needs adjusted and what I think should stay.

I don't WANT to get rid of Optimus; there would just be no need to have him if I had this truck as it would be redundant.

I would either part Optimus, or see if I could give someone the deal fo the century on a complete truck.

Like I said, this is not a "go"; it's only in the theorhetical stages as I am currently awaiting Optimus to be finished with new A2000 (mine leaked oil everywhere since it was defective), new Helix 2 Cam, and full Thuren suspension and wheel/tire combo. I should have him back in 8 days.

If anyone can find pics of beds that might look better or anything else, I will try to incorporate it into the design.

As far as the wedding goes; the planning is almost all done and now we are getting ready to pack and prepare our homes to be vacant fo some time!

We leave in only 15 days!

My opinion is selling Optimous for this other project you are considering would be a huge mistake. A Semi with a truck box [yuk].
To me a the Ultamite pickup/truck is they look good, pull good and can still do the original job they were built to do.
You at least have to enter in a sled pull before you sell it and give us some dyno #'s
